Ayahuasca

Ayahuasca is an ancient shamanic plant medicine, used for millennia by the Indians of the Amazon to heal the mind, body and spirit as well as explore other realms of existence.

The tea, made from the brewing of two Amazonian plants (Banisteriopsis caapi and Psychotria viridis), often engenders powerful visions in the drinker, allowing them to work through unresolved psychological issues, heal and transcend mental distress, and access inner strength and personal power.

The three to eight hours of the ayahuasca journey has been likened by some to years of psychological therapy.

The Ayahuasca-Healing Retreats, Brazil have been created by Silvia Polivoy, a licensed clinical psychologist and one of the founders of this transdenominational and interfaith spiritual center in Bahia, who, having worked and trained with Peruvian and Mexican shamans, recognized the immense contemporary worth of these ancient traditions.

The central tenet of Silvia's retreats is self-empowerment. Participants focus on how to access hidden resources of inner strenght and personal power that stem from the shaman that is within us all: the higher self. The experience of the sessions can be challenging for some. Much of our sometimes cumbersome psychological armament can be – for the time of the session – dismantled. What Silvia recognized is that, if she could create a safe framework of loving encouragement, retreat participants would be able to better direct their own healing and self-exploration as well as do much more powerful inner work.

The retreats are held in our private eco center inside of 39 acres of lush preserved area. It is located 7 miles from Itacare on the cost of Bahia. Our location is only minutes away from beautiful coastal beaches, which back onto the Mata Atlantica, the second largest rainforest in the country.

Silvia and her changing team of facilitators and visiting teachers, bring ample knowledge of their particular fields, humour, and great reserves of intuitive kindness into the mix, leaving participants with radiant smiles and a renewed sense of self after one of these retreats.
